PPDC Clinic Crop Disease Reports July 20-August 3
Next week I will be attending the American Phytopathological Society national meetings in San Antonio, Texas. During my absence the Plant and Pest Diagnostic Clinic will be working at partial capacity from August 3 – 10. Plant samples may still be submitted, but turnaround time will be delayed. All samples submitted to the clinic during this time will be stored under refrigerated conditions to maintain quality until I return to the office August 10. Thanks in advance for your patience.
The following diseases were reported in samples submitted to the UNL Plant and Pest Diagnostic Lab from July 20 to August 3.
Soybean
East District – Brown stem rot, Phytophthora root and stem rot
Southeast District – Charcoal rot, stem borer
Southwest District – Bacterial pustule
Central District – Banks grass mite, brown stem rot, frogeye leaf spot
Northeast District – Brown stem rot, frogeye leaf spot
Corn
Southwest District – Goss’s Wilt
East District – Common rust, southern rust, gray leaf spot, Goss’s wilt, Northern corn leaf blight, Physoderma brown spot, southern rust, southern corn leaf blight
Southeast District – Banks grass mites, common rust, gray leaf spot, Fusarium crown rot, northern corn leaf blight, northern corn leaf spot, southern rust
South District – Bacterial leaf streak, common rust, gray leaf spot, Physoderma brown spot, southern rust
Central District – Bacterial leaf streak, Holcus spot, gray leaf spot, common rust,
North District – Bacterial leaf streak, southern rust
Northeast District – Southern rust
Hops
East District – Downy mildew, drippy stem blight
