Dry/Drought Area Expands in Nebraska

The July 18 Drought Monitor for Nebraska, released today, reflected a further decline in conditions, even with southern Nebraska receiving several inches of rain during the previous week. Three-quarters of the state was either abnormally dry (49.5%) or in moderate (24%) to severe drought (less than 1 %). 

The July 17 USDA NASS Crop Report for Nebraska indicated short to very short ratings for topsoil moisture (65%) and subsoil (57%).
