Corn Hail Damage Research — In early June, heavy storms with hail damaged many crop fields across Nebraska. During the rest of the growing season, Roger Elmore, Nebraska Extension cropping systems agronomist, and a team from Nebraska Extension monitored affected corn plants. Elmore explains why some plants did not recover as expected.

Winter Wheat Condition — Bob Klein, Extension western Nebraska crops specialist, says some growers are concerned fluctuating temperatures might have negatively impacted wheat plants. Klein discusses whether damage could be widespread and talks about fertilizing and weed control.

Calving and Breeding — Rick Funston, Nebraska Extension beef cattle reproductive physiologist, talks about estrus synchronization and the importance of pre-calving nutrition. Rick also explains why producers do not want to overfeed heifers.

Weather Forecast — Al Dutcher, UNL Extension state climatologist, gives his forecast for the coming week.
