Farmers and ranchers who do not have a will or estate plan might leave behind something they never intended - struggles and headaches for their family.

Estate planning might seem complicated, but the best step to take is the first one. Farmers and ranchers can receive help to start, and then finish, their estate plans at an estate planning workshop in November at Scottsbluff. It will be hosted by UNL Extension and the Panhandle CPA Association.

The workshop will be an overview of options and provide guidelines to define goals, gather vital information, and talk with family members. The work session will feature Extension Transition Specialist Dave Goeller. Goeller will help participants refine goals, review documents to be assembled, and get organized to make the most of their time with the estate planning attorneys.

The workshop will be held Nov. 15 at the Panhandle Research and Extension Center, Bluestem Room, beginning at 8:30 am. Registration cost is $30 to cover meal and materials. Pre-registration is due by November 7. To register call (308) 632-1480.
