January

Quicken for Agricultural Producers

  • Monday, Jan. 14, registration at 8:30 a.m.; program 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., First National Bank Northeast, Tekamah

This program will help you set up a farm accounting system that will aid in tracking receipts and expenditures, tax preparation and enterprise analysis. Past participants have given this program very high marks. There is no fee, thanks to the generous support of the First National Bank Northeast, however space is limited and preregistration is required. Annie's Project II (Farm Management for Women)

Winning The Game—Land and Launch Your Marketing Plan

  • Monday, January 28, registration at 8:30 a.m.; program 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Center for Rural Affairs, Lyons

U.S. farmers are the most productive crop producers in the world. Unfortunately, good yields don't always translate into good profits. Some factors are beyond a producer's control, but marketing doesn't have to be one of them. Attend this program to learn how you can fine-tune your marketing plan and improve your bottom line. There is no fee for this program thanks to the generous support of the First National Bank Northeast. Preregistration is requested to help us plan and prepare materials for participants. Cornhusker Economics Management and Outlook Conference

Topics include livestock, crop, land, rural economics and policy and focused sessions on the new Farm Bill and commodity title, livestock regulations, rural development and conservation. Cost: $25 preregistration; $30 at the door.

2008 Land Managers Update: Trends and Flexible Cash Provisions

  • Feb. 4, 1:30 - 4:00 p.m., First National Bank Northeast, Tekamah

"What's the going rate for cash rent?" That's been a common question in the last year. We're in a whole new arena with current land, input and commodity prices and determining what's a fair cash rent is more difficult than ever. This program will cover land value and ownership trends, share vs. cash rent trends and flexible cash provisions in rental arrangements. It is for landowners and tenants. Annie's Project (Farm Management for Women)

This program is designed for women involved in agriculture. Each session will begin with a meal followed by discussion of a farm management topic. Preregistration is required.
