Pasture Walk Tour Aug. 21 in Pierce County

The Natural Resources Conservation Service, UNL Extension, and the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District will jointly host a Pasture Walk Tour Thursday, Aug. 21 in Pierce County. The program will begin at 3:30 p.m. and end around 8 p.m. The Lower Elkhorn NRD will provide refreshments at each location and supper following the last stop at the Plainview Park.

Tour speakers will include Dana Larsen, NRCS State Range Management Specialist; Wayne Ohnesorg and Terry Gompert, Extension Educators; Scott Wessel, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission; Chad Schomberg, Animal Nutritionist; Brad Prauner, Territory Manager for Gallagher; and other NRCS personnel. The experts will answer questions on grazing management, minerals and animal nutrition, electric fence installation and other topics.

The first stop will be at the Bob and Jack Warrick farm operated by Todd Stewart near Meadow Grove. Tour maps will be provided there.

Directions to the first stop:

From Meadow Grove, on 539 Ave (or Meadow Grove Road) go north 8 miles to 850 Road in Pierce County, turn east on a minimum maintenance road.
From Pierce, go 10 miles west on 854 Road (pierce-Neligh Road) to 539 Ave, then go south 4 miles to 850 Road, and turn east on a minimum maintenance road.
