No-Till Bus Tour Aug. 25-28

August 8, 2008

No-till on the Plains, Inc. is planning a multi-state, educational bus tour in late-August to see the "best of the best" in continuous no-tillage. The program will feature experts and experienced continuous no-tillers.

The Points North No-Till Bus Tour will be Monday through Thursday, August 25-28. The tour will start from Manhattan and Salina, Kansas and continue to stops in Nebraska and South Dakota. Growers will be able to see equipment, cropland and visit the Dakota Lakes Research Farm at Pierre, S.D. and UNL's Rogers Memorial Farm at Lincoln. Other stops will include the Ray Ward farm near Western, the Randy Rink farm near Pender, the Chet Edinger farm near Mitchell, and CASE New Holland Factory in Grand Island.

Speakers will include Dwayne Beck, research manager at South Dakota State University's Dakota Lakes Research Farm, Paul Jasa, UNL Extension Ag Engineer, and Ray Ward, owner of Ward Labs in Kearney.

Brian Lindley, executive director of No-till on the Plains, said, "With this kind of format, participants can ask questions of the experts and producers and get immediate, practical answers. The interaction on the bus is just tremendous."

Register online or by phone by August 15 for $650 ($325 for spouses). The price includes travel and double-occupancy lodging. Attendees are responsible for meal costs.

No-till on the Plains is a farmer-run group promoting practical and scientific application of continuous no-till farming. For more information on the bus tour, contact No-till on the Plains, Inc. at 888-330-5142 or visit their Web site at www.notill.org.
