The Trailblazer Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) District of Red Cloud is joining with UNL Extension to sponsor two organic farming workshops in December.

The first workshop will be December 2 at the Little Blue Natural Resource District office in Davenport, and the second will be December 9 at the Black Powder Grill in Franklin. These workshops will start at 10 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.

Featured speakers at the December 2 workshop are Liz Sarno, UNL extension educator and organic project coordinator, and Dave Welsch, farmer and organic technician. Speakers at the December 9 workshop are Ron Moore, farmer and organic technician, and Liz Sarno.

These meetings will cover how to convert from traditional to organic farming practices, including information on marketing and financial incentive programs. The workshops also will help connect current organic producers with those interested in converting to organic farming.
