The webcast, sponsored by eXtension, will feature experts from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Michigan State University explaining strategies to conserve nitrogen for beneficial reuse and conservation and feeding strategies that allow more nitrogen to be retained in stored manure.

The program is free and scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. CT.

Presenters will be Galen Erickson, UNL beef feedlot extension specialist, and Wendy Powers, environmental stewardship director for animal agriculture at MSU.

Erickson focuses on environment-nutrition interactions and the nutritional effects on pathogen excretion, and Powers works with a whole-systems approach to environmental accountability. Her research interests include diet modification as a mitigation strategy for odor and gaseous emissions, as well as developing post-excretion strategies to reduce the environmental impact of livestock production.
