Range and Pasture Management Workshop June 16 at Sidney
May 22, 2009 Range and pasture management as well as forage production will be the topics of a June 16 workshop and tour at the fairgrounds in Sidney. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the program to begin at 8:45 a.m. Topics will include:
- Pasture Range and Forage Insurance Based on the Vegetation Index — How Does it Work? with Bill Halligan of First National Insurance
- Forage Production with Limited Irrigation and Annual Forages on Dryland with Jerry Volesky UNL Extension
- Windrow Grazing and Bunch Grazing Millet Residue - A Producer Perspective
- Developing a Sustainable Grazing Management System in Semi Arid Rangeland with Pat Reece, Prairie & Montane Enterprises
The afternoon will feature a tour of the Mathewson and Sprenger ranches. This program and tour, hosted by UNL Extension and the Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition, will offer information from specialists as well as local ranchers.
