Since 2000 UNL Extension Farm Management Specialist Doug Jose has been keeping Nebraska crop and livestock producers informed about risk management and changes in the ag industry.  This Saturday, after 470 episodes hosting Market Journal, Jose is retiring.  Walking away from the studio cameras, the field shots, and the many sources who shared their expertise on the program. He's hanging up his cowboy hat -- at least on camera.

Jose has hosted the program since its inception, working with executive producer Jim Randall, who retired earlier this year. Starting next week Connie Reimers-Hild, a UNL extension educator, will become program host.  She'll be working with executive producer Kurtis Harms and program assistant Jeff Wilkerson. Harms said Reimers-Hild's focus as an extension educator has been on entrepreneurship and innovation and he expects her to bring that interest to the program.

On this week's Market Journal, Jose highlights some of the key business management topics addressed on the program over the years.

Also on this week's Market Journal, Al Dutcher, UNL Extension state climatologist, predicts fairly mild temperatures and dry conditions for the next week with a possibility for rain toward the end of the week.

After record highs in the grain markets for most of the summer, both corn and soybeans have taken hits in the last few weeks. With harvest underway
in Nebraska, will prices bounce back from recent losses? Roy Smith will provide an update on the grain markets.
