Nebraska Producers Reminded of Animal Import Requirements - UNL CropWatch, Aug. 4, 2011

August 4, 2011

State Veterinarian Dr. Dennis Hughes is reminding producers of  the need to meet import requirements when buying, leasing or receiving cattle from other states.

“Our office has received an influx of calls recently about importing animals into Nebraska from Southern states that have been severely affected by ongoing drought conditions,” said Hughes. “We recognize the extremely difficult situation that these producers are facing and welcome those animals into our state as long as they meet the importation requirements.”

Producers are urged to contact the State Veterinarian’s staff for more information about specific import requirements by calling 800-572-2437.
