For the week ending November 21, 2010, limited precipitation in the form of rain and snow fell as the last row crops fields were being harvested, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Corn and sorghum harvests were virtually complete at 99%.

Winter wheat growing areas saw small amounts of precipitation while conditions continued well below average. Fall tillage and fertilizer application were in the last stages with soil temperatures still above freezing.

Temperatures averaged 4-5 degrees below normal across the north and 1-2 degrees below average in the south. Statewide, highs reached the low 60s while lows were in the upper teens.

• Corn harvest was 99% complete, well ahead of 63% last year and 86% average.
• Sorghum harvested was also 99%, well ahead of 65% last year and 87% average.
• Winter wheat conditions rated 1% very poor, 9% poor, 45% fair, 39% good, and 6% excellent, well below the 71% good to excellent last year and 69% average. Emergence at 99% was virtually complete, compared to 100% percent last year and average.
• Pasture and range conditions rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 32% fair, 57% good, and 3% excellent, below year ago levels.
