Presentations at the 2010 Ag at the Crossroads Conference will focus on opportunities for creating jobs and developing Nebraska's agricultural workforce.  The conference will be Nov. 4 at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln at 4100 N. 84th St.

Ronnie Green, University of Nebraska Vice President and Harlan Vice Chancellor for the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, will give the keynote address:  Entrepreneurship -- Creating Opportunities for the Ag Workforce at 8:30 a.m.

Other topics and speakers include:

  • Welcome with Craig Buescher, president of the Nebraska AgRelations Council
  • Nebraska Entrepreneurship Initiatives with Mark Gustafson, founding director of UNL's Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program, and Nancy Eberle, special projects consultant for UNL extension
  • Panel Discussion on Entrepreneurship Experiences with Nancy Eberle, moderator, Brett Nunnenkamp, Sutton, entrepreneurial ag producer; and Janita Pavelka, Holdrege, an entrepreneurship student in UNL's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources
  • Developing the Ag Workforce with Larry Van Tassell, head of the UNL Department of Agricultural Economics
  • Panel Discussion on Expectations of Nebraska's Ag Workforce with Paul Hay, Beatrice, moderator and extension educator, Max Waldo, DeWitt, agricultural producer and businessman; Ed Stich, longtime instructor at Southeast Community College with internships and placements; and Tom Hermance, human resources executive, Dorchester Farmers Cooperative

Early registration ends Oct. 29. Individuals can register at the door and pay $45.
