Soils and fertility will be among the focus topics of this year's Nebraska No-Till Conference.

The conference is from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 16 at the Ag Center in Holdrege and Feb. 17 at UNL's Agricultural Research and Development Center near Mead. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

Conference organizers, Keith Glewen and Chuck Burr, UNL Extension educators, and Paul Jasa, UNL extension engineer, said producers will learn the benefits of no-till and how it can work for them.

Speakers and Topics

Speakers include no-till farmers, university specialists, and industry representatives.

 The Holdrege conference includes the following topics: Implications of Surface Applied Fertilizer in No-Till Conditions; Climate Variability – Is It for Real; Carbon Sequestration Research Update; Research Report – One Tillage Pass in No-till – Its Impact; Lunch Panel Discussion – Why My Neighbor Doesn't No-Till; Use and Benefits of Cover Crops in a Crop Rotation; Impact of Long-Term No-Till on Infiltration and Runoff with Center Pivots and Evapotranspiration, Soil Temperature and Plant Physiological Parameters in Relation to Tillage Practices.

ARDC topics include: Evaluating No-till Production Year 2009; Climate Variability – Is It for Real; Carbon Sequestration Research Update; Research Report - One Tillage Pass in No-till – Its Impact; a Farm Operator's Experiences with No-till Corn & Soybean Production, Cover Crops, Equipment, Economics and Related Concepts; Implications of Surface Applied Fertilizer in No-Till; Managing Micro-Nutrients in No-Till Cover Crops and The Facts About Nutrient Recycling; Cover Crop Experiences On the Farm; and No-Till Nutrient Management.
