Herbicides Labeled for Use in Multiple Crops

Cadet™ [fluthiacet-methyl (0.91 lb ai/gal)]. Cadet is a post-emergence broadleaf herbicide labeled for use in field corn, sweet corn, popcorn, and soybeans. Cadet’s strength is control of velvetleaf. It also has activity on lambsquarters. Mode of action: fluthiacet-methyl is a PPO inhibitor. FMC. EPA Reg. No. 279-3338.

Kixor®. Kixor is the branding of the BASF’s active ingredient saflufenacil. Any product that contains saflufenacil alone or in combination with another active ingredient will be labeled with the phrase “Powered by Kixor Herbicide.”

Sharpen™ [saflufenacil (2.85 lb ai/gal)]. Sharpen is a new broadleaf herbicide from BASF. It is labeled for corn, soybeans, and sorghum, as well as fallow land, chickpea, small grains, and as a sunflower harvest aid. Its use will be primarily as a burndown, pre-plant, or pre-emergence herbicide depending upon the crop. Sharpen has both foliar burndown activity as well as soil residual activity depending upon the rate used. The rate will vary depending on the crop. Do not apply after the crop has emerged or severe injury will result. Mode of action: saflufenacil is a PPO inhibitor. BASF. EPA Reg. No. 7969-278.

Vida™ [pyraflufen (0.208 lb ai/gal)]. Vida is a broadleaf contact herbicide. It is labeled for pre-plant burndown in corn, soybeans, fallow, and wheat. Gowan. Mode of action: pyraflufen is a PPO inhibitor. EPA Reg. No. 71711-7-10163.

Corn Herbicides

Capreno™ [thiencarbazone-methyl (0.57 lb ai/gal)+ tembotrione (2.88 lb ai/gal) + safener]. Capreno is a broad spectrum grass and broadleaf premix herbicide. It is a combination of Laudis and the new active ingredient thiencarbazone-methyl. Capreno is labeled for post-emergence use in field corn and silage. The recommended use rate is 3 oz/ac. Mode of action: thencarbazone-methly is an ALS inhibitor and tembotrione is a HPPD inhibitor. Bayer CropScience. EPA Reg. No. 264-1063.

Integrity™ [saflufenacil (0.57 lb ai/gal) + dimethenamid-P (5.0 lb ai/gal)]. Integrity is a new BASF premix of Sharpen and Outlook. It is a broad spectrum grass and broadleaf herbicide labeled for pre-emergence use in field corn, silage, and popcorn. The recommended use rate will range from 10 to 16 oz/ac depending upon soil type. Mode of action: saflufenacil is a PPO inhibitor and dimthenamid-P is a seedling growth inhibitor. BASF. EPA Reg. Soybean Herbicides

Dawn™ [fomesafen (2 lb ai/gal)]. Dawn is primarily a contact broadleaf herbicide. It is labeled for pre-emergence and post-emergence applications in soybeans. The recommended use rate is 0.75 to 1.0 pt /ac. Do not use west of HWY 281 in Nebraska. Mode of action: fomesafen is a PPO inhibitor. Cheminova. EPA Reg. No. 67760-93.

Flexstar® GT [fomesafen (0.66 lb ai/gal) + glyphosate (2.63 lb ae/gal)]. Flexstar GT is a premix of fomesafen (Flexstar) and glyphosate (Touchdown) labeled for pre-plant, pre-emergence, or post-emergence grass and broadleaf control in soybeans. The recommended use rate is 3 pt/ac. Mode of action:  fomesafen is a PPO inhibitor and glyphosate is an EPSP synthase inhibitor. Syngenta. EPA Reg. No. 100-1325.

Optill™ [saflufenacil (0.178 lb ai/gal)+ imazethapyr (0.502 lb ai/gal)]. Optill is a new BASF premix of Sharpen and Pursuit. It is labeled for pre-plant or pre-emergence use in soybeans, chickpeas (garbanzo beans), and field pea and has excellent burndown activity. The recommended use rate is 2 oz/ac. Mode of action: saflufenacil is a PPO inhibitor and imazethypyr is an ALS inhibitor. BASF. EPA Reg. No. 7969-280.

Rhythm™ [fomesafen (1.88 lb ai/gal)]. Rhythm is primarily a contact broadleaf herbicide. It is labeled for pre-emergence and post-emergence applications in soybeans. The recommended use rate is 0.75 to 1.0 pt /ac. Do not use west of Hwy 281 in Nebraska. Mode of action: fomesafen is a PPO inhibitor. Cheminova. EPA Reg. No. 67760-94.

Tackle™ [imazethapyr (0.128 lb ae/gal) + glyphosate (4 lb ai/gal)]. Tackle is a broad spectrum broadleaf and grass premix. It is labeled for pre-emergence and post-emergence applications in glyphosate resistant soybeans. The recommended use rate is 32 oz/ac. Tackle and Extreme are premixes of the same active ingredients, however each product has a different ratio of imazethapyr and glyphosate. Tackle has a lower concentration of imazethapyr (equivalent to 2 oz/ac of Pursuit in a 32 oz/ac application) and a higher concentration of glyphosate. Two applications of Tackle can be made in a growing season. Mode of action: imazethapyr is an ALS inhibitor and glyphosate is an EPSP synthase inhibitor. Cheminova. EPA Reg. No. 67760-87.
