Camelot
Camelot is a semi-dwarf wheat cultivar with a mature plant height of about 34 inches, which is similar to Millennium and about 4 inches taller than Wesley.
- Moderately late in maturity.
- Has moderate straw strength, similar to Agripro Jagalene.
- Good to very good winter hardiness.
- Moderately resistant to stem, leaf, and stripe rust.
- Slightly more tolerant to Fusarium head blight (scab) than many widely grown varieties.
- Moderately resistant to Hessian fly.
- Moderately susceptible to wheat soilborne mosaic virus, susceptible to barley yellow dwarf virus, and wheat streak mosaic virus.
- Should be well adapted to most rainfed wheat production systems in Nebraska.
Where it is adapted, Camelot should be a replacement for 2137, Wahoo, and Wesley (for rainfed production), though Wesley has better straw strength. Camelot was developed cooperatively by the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station and the USDA-ARS and released in 2008 by the developing institutions.
Camelot is marketed by NuPride Genetics Network.
Non-complementary varieties include Hatcher and 2137.
