USDA NASS: Corn Planting at 50%, Soybean at 13% May 8, 2017

Corn planting in Nebraska was nearly 50% complete as of Sunday, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. While average temperatures were one to two degrees below normal last week, warmer, drier conditions at week's end favored planting. Soybean planting was 13% complete.

Crop Progress as of 4/30/17

USDA NASS: Corn Planting at 34%, Soybean at 8% May 1, 2017

Despite rainy cold conditions that moved in mid week, corn planting moved to 34% complete as of Sunday April 30, according to the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Services weekly Crop Progress and Condition Report. Eight percent of the soybean crop had been planted. For the week ending April 30, temperatures averaged eight to ten degrees below normal, according to the report. Significant rainfall of one inch or more was recorded across most counties. Moderate snow, averaging two to four inches, was recorded in south central and northeastern counties at the end of the week.

Nebraska Extension Crop Reports - Late April April 26, 2017

Michael Rethwisch, Extension Educator for Butler and Polk Counties: This week I sampled alfalfa for alfalfa weevil larvae in several counties. Most larvae were very small, indicating that the hatch was very recent, and more weevil larvae should be expected.

Corn Planting Starts; Winter Wheat Condition 53% Good to Excellent April 17, 2017

Three percent of Nebraska's corn crop was planted as of Sunday, according to this week's USDA National Agriucltural Statistics Service report. This was near last year's 6% by this time and equal to the five-year average.

USDA-NASS Crop Report April 10, 2017 April 11, 2017

Winter wheat condition rated 1% very poor, 9% poor, 42% fair, 41% good, and 7% excellent, according to the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service April 10 report for Nebraska.

Nationally, wheat condition in the top 18 winter wheat producing states was 3% very poor; 10% poor; 34% fair; 46% good; and 7% excellent.
