USDA-NASS: Just 17% of Corn and 33% of Beans Harvested

John Wilson, Extension Educator in Burt County: Conditions here are wet. We got 2.5 inches of precipitation last week and another 0.5 inch Tuesday. Harvest is at a standstill with less than 10% of the corn and soybeans having been harvested. Alfalfa and pastures look great.
USDA NASS Forecasts Record/Top Yields for Most Crops
Based on October 1 conditions, Nebraska's 2017 corn production is forecast at 1.68 billion bushels, down 1% from last year's production, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Area to be harvested for grain, at 9.30 million acres, is down 3% from a year ago. Yield is forecast at 181 bushels per acre, up 3 bushels from last year.

Precipitation Slows and Complicates Dry Bean Harvest
USDA NASS: Wheat Planting & Corn Harvest Lag
Winter wheat planting and corn harvest lagged a bit last week compared to previous years, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service report for the week ending Sunday, September 24. Temperatures averaged near normal across western Nebraska, but six to ten degrees above normal in the east.
