Download Your Corn Nitrogen Calculator

UNL's Corn Nitrogen Calculator is an Excel® spreadsheet designed to help you determine the most economical rate of nitrogen fertilizer for corn in Nebraska. It can be downloaded from the UNL Soil Fertility Web site. It does not provide recommendations for other nutrients or other crops. It uses soil test information (soil organic matter, residual nitrate-N, and texture) along with your management and economic information to generate the most profitable rate of nitrogen fertilizer.

On the home page for this site, find the section titled “New Nitrogen Fertilizer Recommendations for Corn,” click on the link for the calculator, and save the file to your computer. Ideally this spreadsheet should be used in Microsoft Office Excel® 2003 or newer versions. Older versions of Excel, or other spreadsheet software such as Quattro Pro, may not be able to properly use the equations in the spreadsheet.
