Market Journal: Examining the Economics of Crop Production

On this week's Market Journal Ag Economist Mike Boehlje of Purdue University discusses how agriculture is affected by so much more than the weather and markets. He identifies four main factors as the changes in the energy markets, immigration, natural resources and policy challenges that include the WTO. Boehlje says agriculture's triple bottom lines – economic, environmental and social -- also are key factors.

Also on the program this week:

On the next Market Journal Nov. 23-25, Kansas State University Professor Vincent Amanor-Boadu will discuss strategies to help ag producers operate successfully in today’s global markets.

Market Journal is broadcast Fridays at 12:30 p.m. on DishNetwork NAUHS 9411, Saturdays at 7 a.m. on NET1 and Sundays at 9 a.m. on NETV2 (all times central). Visit the Market Journal Web site at marketjournal.unl.edu to watch current or previous programs.
