Old crop soybeans stored in all positions totaled 59.2 million bushels, up 68% from last year. This is the largest September 1 stocks level on record, exceeding the previous record set last year. On-farm stocks of 9.5 million bushels are down 5% from year ago levels. Off-farm stocks of 49.7 million bushels are nearly double last year’s holdings.
Wheat stored in all positions totaled 67.7 million bushels, up 24% from a year ago. On-farm stocks of 8 million bushels are unchanged from 2006. Off-farm stocks, at 59.7 million bushels, are up 28% from last year.
Old crop sorghum stored in all positions totaled 3.1 million bushels, down 5% from last year and the lowest in eleven years. On-farm stocks of 200 thousand bushels are down 60% from a year ago, while off-farm stocks, at 2.9 million bushels, are up 5% from 2006.
