USDA: Crop Report

Corn condition rated 0% very poor, 1% poor, 14% fair, 61% good, and 24% excellent, well above last year’s 71% good or excellent rating, according to the June 25 report from USDA's National Agricultural Statistic Service, Nebraska Field Office. Irrigated fields rated 86% good or excellent while dryland fields rated 82%, both above year ago levels.

Soybean condition rated 0% very poor, 1% poor, 18% fair, 67% good, and 14% excellent, well above last year’s 66% good or excellent condition. Soybeans blooming were at 3%, even with last year and ahead of the 2% average.

Wheat condition rated 3% very poor, 13% poor, 30% fair, 45% good, and 9% excellent, well above last year’s 17% good or excellent condition. Wheat turning color was 85%, behind last year’s 93% but ahead of the 81% average. Wheat which was ripened was at 10%, well below last year’s 39% and 23% average. A few fields had been harvested in the southeast.

Alfalfa condition rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 23% fair, 56% good, and 11% excellent, well above last year’s 40% good or excellent condition. First cutting was 95% complete, behind last year’s 99% but ahead of the 94% average. Second cutting was 6% complete, behind last year’s 28% and 13% average.

Oat condition rated 0% very poor, 3% poor, 26% fair, 64% good, and 7% excellent, well above last year’s 22% good or excellent condition. Eighty-seven percent of the oats had headed, behind last year’s 93% and 91% average.

Sorghum conditions rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 26% fair, 59% good, and 12% excellent, well above last year’s 60% good or excellent condition. Sorghum planted was 99% complete, behind last year’s 100% but even with average. Sorghum emerged was 93%, ahead of last year’s 92% and near the 94% average.

Dry bean planting was 97% complete, behind last year’s 100 but even with average. Dry beans emerged was 85%, even with last year and ahead of the 76% average.

Proso millet planted was 86%, well ahead of last year’s 60% and 74% average.
