Corn condition rated 0% very poor, 2% poor, 13% fair, 60% good, and 25% excellent, well above last year’s 67% good or excellent rating, according to the June 18 crop report from USDA’s National Agricultural Statistic Service, Nebraska Field Office.
Soybean condition rated 0% very poor, 1% poor, 17% fair, 65% good, and 17% excellent, well above last year’s 65% good or excellent condition. Approximately 95% of the soybeans had emerged, behind last year’s 100% and even with average.
Wheat condition rated 3% very poor, 13% poor, 29% fair, 45% good, and 10% excellent, well above last year’s 17% good or excellent condition. Wheat turning color was 68%, well behind last year’s 84% but well ahead of the 55% average. Only about 1% of the wheat was ripe, below last year’s 15% and an average of 6% average.
Alfalfa condition rated 4% very poor, 7% poor, 21% fair, 54% good, and 14% excellent, well above last year’s 35% good or excellent condition. First cutting was 84% complete, behind last year’s 94% and 86% average. Second cutting was just starting and was 3% complete, behind last year’s 8% and 4% average.
Oat condition rated 0% very poor, 3% poor, 19% fair, 73% good, and 5% excellent, well above last year’s 29% good or excellent condition. Oats headed was 70%, behind last year’s 82% and 76% average.
Sorghum conditions rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 21% fair, 68% good, and 8% excellent, well above last year’s 54% good or excellent condition. Sorghum planted was 93% complete, behind last year’s 99% and 96% average.
Sorghum emerged was 74%, behind last year’s 80% and 82% average.
Dry bean planting was 91% complete, behind last year’s 98% but ahead of the 87% average. Dry beans emerged was 68%, behind last year’s 71% but well ahead of the 50% average.
Proso millet planted was 61%, ahead of last year’s 45% and 51% average.
