Crop Water Use Research

 Gary Hergert, UNL extension soils specialist, visits with Market Journal program host and UNL agricultural economist Doug Jose about the Pumpkin Creek Watershed Project. Also on this week's show, Kirk Laux, owner of a diversified farming operation near Bridgeport, describes how no-till crop production can be the foundation of how an operation responds to limited water availability.

On the next Market Journal June 1-3, guests will discuss how to conserve moisture and minimize soil loss to wind erosion. Also, a Torrington, Wyoming producer will describe a one-pass, zone or strip tillage system that cuts through crop residue, provides deep tillage for root development and closes the soil with a firm seed bed.
