Market Journal looks at renewable energy resources

On this week's Market Journal, host Doug Jose will visit with Bob Ludwig, an energy consultant with the Hales Group, about the promise of ethanol and renewal energy. Hayes predicts that when all the planned ethanol plants come into production,l they will produce 10% of the gasoline market, a level the market can handle. Biodiesel production is increasing and because biodiesel is a global market, soybeans are not the product of choice. Palm oil, yellow grease from restaurants and animal fats are alternatives to soybeans for biodiesel production.

Also on the program:

Wait to Sell Wheat — Paul Bergener, UNL extension ag economics research coordinator
A-FAN, an Organization to Assist Livestock Producers — Roger Berry, A-FAN director
How the Market Signals Producers What Crops to Plant — Darrell Mark, UNL extension marketing specialist
Weather — Al Dutcher, Nebraska state climatologist

Next week's Market Journal, on Dec. 31, will review the five major events which impacted agriculture in Nebraska in 2006 and the implications for next year. Join the Market Journal team to see if you agree with their selection and analysis.
