Corn/Soybean Profitability Workshops set for December 18-22

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension Corn/Soybean Profitability Workshops will be offered at five locations across the state in December. The Workshops will provide crop producers information to deal with increasing production costs and decreasing availability of irrigation water.

The workshops, presented by UNL extension specialists and educators, will help producers improve corn and soybean yields and profits. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the first presentation at 9:15 a.m. The workshops will conclude at 3 p.m.

Each workshop will address topics of statewide interest as well as presentations targeted to local issues. Topics include: Cropping Systems Decisions, What Does Tillage Cost?, Planting and Drilling In Heavy Crop Residues, Weed Control, Reducing Crop Water Use, Controlling Your Fertilizer Costs, Managing Your Seed Costs, and Problem Corn and Soybean Insects and Diseases in 2007.

Continuing education credits for the Certified Crop Advisor Program have been applied for. The competency areas and credits are: Soil and Water Management, two, Nutrient Management, one; Crop Management, one; and Pest Management., one. Participants must provide their crop advisor number at the meeting to receive the credits.
