Soybean condition rated 3% very poor, 9% poor, 29% fair, 43% good, and 16% excellent, above last year. Soybeans turning color moved to 85%, behind last year’s 94% and near the 84% average. Thirty-five percent were dropping leaves, well below last year’s 57% and 45% average.
Alfalfa condition continued to show improvement and rated 8% very poor, 17% poor, 37% fair, 33% good, and 5% excellent. This rating continues to be below last year. Fourth cutting alfalfa increased to 50% complete, behind last year’s 56% but ahead of the 40% average.
Sorghum condition rated 5% very poor, 10% poor, 31% fair, 39% good, and 15% excellent, below last year. Ninety-four percent of the sorghum planted was turning color, even with last year but ahead of the 84% average. Twenty-two percent was mature, behind last year’s 26% and average of 27%.
Dry beans turning color rose to 92%, behind last year’s 95% but ahead of the 87% average. Fifty-nine percent were dropping leaves, behind last year’s 66% and average of 61%. Twenty-four percent of the dry beans had been harvested, behind last year’s 26% and average of 27%. Dry bean conditions rated 0% very poor, 6% poor, 36% fair, 52% good, and 6% excellent.
Producers had 32% of the winter wheat seeded. This is well behind last year’s 47% and the 42% average. Five percent was emerged, behind 13% last year and average.
Proso millet was 25% harvested, well behind last year’s 48% and average of 44%.
