Email listserve created for no-till information exchange

If you'd appreciate a virtual coffee shop to talk with others and share questions, concerns and comments about no-till crop production, UNL Extension is hosting just the thing for you ... short of the coffee. An e-mail listserve has been established to provide a central place for producers to share information about adopting and managing no-till production systems. Listserve members (producers, UNL Extension, Nebraska NRCS, or agribusiness) can respond and share their personal experiences related to the topic. This listserve is a bulk e-mail, sent to all members of the list. It allows a specific question, comment, or response to be sent to a group so that all can share the information and participate.

Talk with Nebraska no-tillers on-line.
Ask questions and share your experiences.

Membership on the listserve is voluntary and participants can leave the list any time. Realize that by belonging to the list, you will receive e-mails pertaining to no-till from others on the list. To avoid excessive e-mails, e-mails intended for a specific person should be sent directly to their personal e-mail address rather than to the list, unless the information would benefit all on the list. (Remember, it’s a public list and others will see what is sent). This list will not be used for commercial purposes or advertisements but only for sharing information about no-till topics. Occasionally, announcements of upcoming meetings, conferences, field days, or other similar events may be posted so that participants can learn more about these opportunities related to no-till.

If there is enough interest in this topic, the Nebraska Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is interested in forming a no-till producers association. This listserve will help them and UNL Extension determine the interest in such a group and help identify interested producers who could become founding members. If there is interest, Extension will help with formation of such a group and provide educational assistance to meet their needs. Likewise, NRCS would provide technical assistance and help with any available incentive programs to aid producers.

User tips

If you are interesting in joining the No-Till Listserve, simply send an e-mail to: LISTSERV@UNL.EDU with the following information in the message (NOT the subject line): SUBSCRIBE NO-TILL {your name}. Do not include any other text or a signature block as the Listserv computer will try to interpret each line as a command. This is an automatic process conducted by a computer and no human will be seeing this e-mail. The e-mails from the NO-TILL listserve will be sent to the e-mail return address of the computer used to send in the subscription.

To share information with the members of the list, send an e-mail from any computer to: NO-TILL@UNL.EDU with your question or comments as the message (you can use the subject line). Remember that this is a public list and your e-mail will be sent to all members of the list. Others on the list can then respond to your question or share their experiences related to your e-mail.

To remove yourself from the list, simply send an e-mail to: LISTSERV@UNL.EDU with the following information in the message (NOT the subject line): UNSUBSCRIBE NO-TILL without any other text or a signature block as the listserv computer will try to interpret each line as a command. For help or more information, e-mail Paul Jasa, Extension engineer, at PJASA1@UNL.EDU
