Wheat varieties and planting tips

This week Market Journal program host Doug Jose visits with Bob Klein, extension cropping system specialist at the West Central REC at North Platte. Klein discusses the importance of variety selection and weed management to get a good stand of winter wheat this fall.

Also on this week's Market Journal Jose, a UNL Extension ag economist, and guests will discuss:

the current livestock market with Paul Burgener, UNL extension research analyst;
development of the next fall bill with Craig Jagger, an economist with the U.S. House of Representative's Ag Committee, Washington, D.C.;
Cuba Trade Agreement with Chuck Hibberd, director of the UNL Panhandle REC;
the upcoming Crop Water Productivity Conference with Klein; and
weather forecasts with Al Dutcher, Nebraska state climatologist.

Next week's show will travel to western Nebraska to talk with UNL specialists about irrigation strategies for dry beans and sugarbeets.
