On this week's Market Journal:

Providing foods that consumers want

Tim Thietje, president of Original Foods of Lincoln, and Dan Rice, general manager of Prairieland Dairy of Firth, say consumer research shows consumers want foods that are produced and marketed in an environmentally friendly way and have no additives. Consumers also want food from a verified source, they said. On this week's
Market Journal, they'll visit with program host Extension Ag Economist Doug Jose about what consumers want in their food supply.

Also on this week's program:

Next week's Market Journal will examine the future of the ethanol industry and how long the growth of the past five years can be maintained. Al Prosch, Pork Central Extension Educator, will give us his analysis of the hog market and Matt Stockton, Extension Ag Economist at the West Central REC, will discuss key points in cow lease arrangements.

Market Journal — UNL Extension's television for ag business decisions — is broadcast Fridays at 12:30 p.m. on Dish Network NAUHS 9411 and Time Warner Cable Channel 21 in Lincoln; Saturdays at 7 a.m. on NET1; and Sundays at 9 a.m. on NET2. Show segments and podcasting are available on the Market Journal Web site.
