Learn more about how to control musk thistle, one of Nebraska's seven noxious weeds, Friday, June 16, at a field day near David City.

Herbicide research plots established by Stevan Knezevic, UNL extension integrated weed management specialist, and several commercial herbicide companies will be toured. Topics will include the effectiveness of different modes of action, chemical rate and fall versus spring applications. Terry Gompert, Extension educator in Knox County, will discuss alternative methods for controlling musk thistle.

The field day will start at 9 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. To attend, from David City, go 1.5 miles north on Hwy. 15 to Road 38 and then 2.5 miles west. The field day is sponsored by UNL Extension and the Butler County Weed Superintendent with support from BASF and Dow AgroSciences.
