The conference uses education and humor to help Nebraska women develop skills in all areas of agriculture and encourages growth in leadership, support and networking. The conference begins with registration at 9 a.m. Sept. 14 at the Kearney Holiday Inn and ends at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 15.
Highlights include featured speaker, comedian and author Julie Ann Barnhill, who focuses her energy on laughter in making it through life's trials. Barnhill's writing, as well as radio and television appearances, have made her a popular speaker nationally and internationally.
Other keynote speakers include Rebecca Long Chaney, who will share her experiences working on a cattle ranch in the Australian Outback, and Sharon Cheney, who will speak on the importance of humor and healthy living.
Participants will attend five workshops throughout the conference, choosing from 30 topics covering economics, communication, technology, management and production, among others. Workshops will be presented by University of Nebraska-Lincoln staff and professionals from related agricultural industries.
Participants also choose one of two tracks for Sept. 14 evening activities. Topics include "Real Colors", container gardening, interior decorating and cooking with beef.
Registration is $90 before and $100 after Sept. 5. The fee includes workshop materials, registration, breaks, lunch and dinner on Sept. 14 and breakfast and lunch on Sept. 15. Room reservations need to be made with the Holiday Inn by calling (800) 248-4460.
