Tire and pesticide drum collection days

A tire collection day will be held August 8-9 at the Gage County Fairgrounds. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day or until they have 225 tons of tires, whichever comes first. Tires should come from Gage County.

They also will be accepting 15-, 30- and 55-gallon empty, rinsed, plastic pesticide drums. Pesticide containers from anywhere in southeast Nebraska will be accepted.

Pesticide containers should not be kept for other uses. Take this opportunity to recycle your containers properly. (See this May 26, 2006 CropWatch story, Recommendation for rinsing pesticide containers, for more information.) No small containers will be accepted.
