Professor and Extension Weed Specialist Robert Wilson will kick off the UNL Department of Agronomy and Horticulture Friday Seminar series Sept. 19 in Lincoln. His topic will be "Chicory — A New Crop for Nebraska: Trials and Tribulations of Developing Alternate Crops."

Wilson, who is at the Panhandle Research and Extension Center in Scottsbluff, began exploring the possibilities of showing farmers how to successfully grow industrial chicory in 1995. He will share information and accomplishments with chicory over the past 20 years.

The seminar is the first in the fall series, to be held at 3:30 p.m. on Fridays in Room 150, Keim Hall, on UNL's East Campus.
