• Livestock Market Analysis — While pig producers have recently been able to carve out narrow profits, cattle feeders are still saddled with losses. Shane Ellis, Iowa State Extension livestock economist, says a large corn crop could help turn those losses around. Shane also analyzes live and feeder cattle market movement and the possibility for hog herd expansion.
   
• Farm Bill Titles — Brad Lubben, UNL Extension public policy specialist, describes the ag legislation that the U.S. House of Representatives was debating this week, including some of the lesser known parts of the farm bill. Late this week the House passed a bill by a vote of 217-210 that would cut approximately $40 billion over 10 years.
   
• Nitrate Dangers — Even though drought wasn’t as widespread and severe in Nebraska as in 2012, nitrates could still pose a danger. Bruce Anderson, UNL Extension forage specialist, gives recommendations to help producers safely feed forages to their livestock.
   
• Weather Forecast — Al Dutcher, UNL Extension state climatologist, gives his forecast for the coming week and discusses the flooding in western Nebraska.

Next Week
