Feb. 13 Wilber Crop Clinic Focuses on the Bottom Line

The 2015 Wilber Crop Clinic will cover a range of timely topics on the theme "Focusing On Our Bottom Line." The event will begin with registration, viewing of sponsor displays, and coffee, kolaches, and rolls at 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 at the Sokol Hall, 317 South Wilson in Wilber. The educational program will begin at 9 a.m.  Free registration for this sponsored event is at the door.  Lunch is provided.

Speakers from Nebraska extension and private industry will cover cutting edge agronomic and management topics, said Randy Pryor, Extension Educator in Saline County and program host.

Al Dutcher, UNL state climatologist, will kick off the event by reviewing current weather patterns and their expected effect on this spring's agriculture. Other speakers will include:

  • Cory Walters, extension crop economist, on revenue risk, forward contracting, and crop insurance;
  • Nathan Mueller, extension educator in Dodge County, on the advantages of precision agriculture tools;
  • Tina Barrett, director of the Nebraska Farm Business Association, on managing production costs in difficult times;
  • Roger Elmore, extension crops specialist, on corn hail damage research;
  • Randy Pryor, extension educator in Saline County, on what he has learned using the Texas A&M farm bill decision aid for over 350 farms; and
  • Dale Flowerday, Delmar Consulting, with a little agronomic humor after lunch.

The clinic has a tradition of excellent door prizes awarded at the end of the program.
