Market Journal

This week's Market Journal features a story on the advantages of long-term no-till use.

Guest speaker, Rolf Derpsch, a no-till expert from Paraguay, visits with program host and UNL Agricultural Economist Doug Jose. Derpsch says that to reap the benefits of no-till, the land must be in permanent no-till, as opposed to rotational no-till. Derpsch points out there must be a rotation of crops including the careful use of cover crops.

Also on the program are:

  • Managing profits and feed costs, Darrell Mark, UNL Extension Livestock Marketing Specialist
  • 2007 Nebraska Legislature does away with fence viewers, Dave Aiken, UNL Extension Water and Ag Law Specialist
  • Market Journal Toolbox, Darrell Mark, UNL Extension Livestock Marketing Specialist
  • Weather, Al Dutcher, Nebraska State Climatologist

On the next Market Journal Mar. 23-25 — The competition for corn by both the livestock and ethanol industries is driving up prices. Market Journal will explore the dynamics of the ethanol industry and the prospects for the future.
