New Herbicides for 2007

New Herbicides for 2007

March 30, 2007

Crop protection chemical companies announced the release of two new active ingredients for the 2007 growing season. However, new herbicide offerings continue to be dominated by generics and new or revised active ingredient combinations. Several companies have signed licensing agreements to share compounds and target more specific markets. Following is a list of new herbicides. Please contact me if I have inadvertently omitted a new product, and I'll prepare a followup article for CropWatch.

Herbicides with New Active Ingredients

Axial (pinoxaden). Registered for postemergence annual grass control in wheat and barley. Mode of action is lipid synthesis inhibition (like Select, Poast Plus, Assure, etc). An adjuvant called Adigor has been developed specifically for use with Axial. Marketed by Syngenta.
