A Corn Rootworm School will be held at UNL's Haskell Ag Lab 1-4 p.m.Tuesday, July 24.

This school will focus on management techniques for corn rootworms and will concentrate on how to recognize root damage and rate the roots on a 0-3 scale. Participants can get hands-on experience with root digging, root washing, and using the rating system. Use of a rating system is expected to become even more important if the expected increase in corn rootworm pressure develops as continuous corn acres increase. Recognizing corn rootworm damage and what constitutes economic damage is important, especially for seed dealers and consultants who have to answer questions about rootworm control.
