No-Till On The Plains Whirlwind Expo Aug. 22

August 10, 2007

No-tillers from central Nebraska and guest speakers will share their experiences and expertise with no-till production systems during a No-till on the Plains Whirlwind Expo Aug. 22.

Partially funded through a grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust and PrairieLand RC&D, the expo will include hands-on learning opportunities. The day-long event begins at 9 a.m. at the Brian and Keith Berns farm one mile east of Bladen. (Bladen is west of Hwy 281 approximately 33 miles south of Hastings and 54 miles north of Smith Center, Kan.)

The Expo will feature soil pits for close-up viewing, in-field demonstrations, and a rainfall simulator to demonstrate the impact continuous no-till practices can have on soil. A catered lunch will be provided to all attendees who pre-register.

No-till on the Plains is a regional organization that reaches over 3,000 farmers yearly. The farmer-run group promotes practical and scientific application of continuous no-till farming.
