UNL Extension is excited to announce the first annual Crop Production Clinics to be held at eight locations across Nebraska in January 2009. The clinics will provide valuable information to help crop producers and agribusiness professionals improve their profitability and safety.

The Crop Production Clinics will feature presentations from extension specialists and educators on soil fertility, soil water and irrigation management, and crop production as well as disease, insect and weed pest management. These clinics succeed the Crop Protection Clinics which had been conducted annually since 1974.

The Crop Production Clinics will be the primary venue for commercial/noncommercial pesticide applicators to renew their licenses in the Ag Plant (01), Regulatory (REG) and Demonstration/Research (D/R) categories. Representatives from the Nebraska Department of Agriculture will be present to verify attendance. The Crop Production Clinics also will serve as a venue for private pesticide applicators to renew their licenses. This will be the first year that this service has been offered.

Certified Crop Advisor CEUs have been applied for in the following categories: Integrated Pest Management (6 CEUs), Soil and Water (2 CEUs), Nutrient Management (2 CEUs), and Crop Production (1 CEU). Attendees can earn a maximum of six CEUs at a location.

Registration

Registration for the clinics is $50 a person. The fee includes a noon meal, refreshments, the 2009 Guide for Weed Management in Nebraska and the 2009 Crop Production Clinic Proceedings. Individuals wanting to to renew their Private Pesticide Applicator's license will be charged an additional $30 to cover the cost of study materials and program fees.
