This week the USDA Agricultural Statistics Service reported that half of the state's winter wheat crop is in poor to very poor condition. On this week's Market Journal UNL Extension Cropping Systems Specialist Greg Kruger discussess the current situation and options for growers.  While prospects don't look good, Kruger recommends that growers not give up hope and wait until spring to decide about replanting. Until then, the wheat offers soil protection and residue, says Kruger, reporting from the West Central Research and Extension Center in North Platte.

• Cattle Carcass Gain — Feedlots continue to struggle with high feed prices. Jim MacDonald, UNL beef cattle nutritionist, explains how research can show carcass weight gain in feedlot cattle.
   
• NSB Update — Scott Houck, at-large director of the Nebraska Soybean Board, explains how the Nebraska Soybean Board helps in producer education and research.
   
• Weather Outlook — Al Dutcher, UNL Extension state climatologist, gives his weekly weather forecast.
