The Panhandle No-till Partnership will host a series of no-till field days June 26-28 to provide information on all aspects of no-till crop production in our region, including both irrigated and dryland production. The field days will be held near Chadron (June 26), Alliance (June 27), and Sidney (June 28). All events are free and open to the public.

  • Chadron – June 26. The tour starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Natural Resources Conservation Service office at 1006 West 6th St. and move to the Mark Betson and Denny Bock farms to look at forages for cattle grazing, field peas, and all aspects of dryland no-till cropping systems. Lunch will be provided after the field day.

  • Alliance – June 27. The tour will be at the Watson Brothers farm at 1561 CR 61, starting at 9:30 a.m. and include all aspects of irrigated and dryland no-till cropping systems. The tour will include stops on irrigated acres planted to winter wheat, corn, and edible beans and a discussion of cover crop ideas being considered for this rotation. It will also include a tour of dryland acres in winter wheat, corn, and field peas. Lunch will be provided after the field day.

  • Sidney – June 28. The field day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with stops at the UNL High Plains Agricultural Laboratory at 3257 Road 109 and continue at the Pat and Mark Ernest farm where the tour will look at all aspects of dryland and irrigated no-till crop production.
