Learn management strategies that can optimize your nitrogen and water inputs at the UNL Water Saving Field Day August 1 at Imperial.

The event will start with a meal at 5 p.m. MDT and continue with the program.

Participants can learn how to get the most effective use from your irrigation water and energy dollars by applying the optimal amount of water and nitrogen and conserving water.

Tour topics will include:

• Using Canopy Sensors to Ideally Manage Nitrogen and Water Application
• Pesticide Applications: Making the Most of Your Investment
• Crop Residue Management
• Water Conservation
• Economic Analysis of Water Management Strategies

Program speakers include: Simon van Donk, UNL Irrigation and Water Resources Specialist; Greg Kruger, Cropping Systems Specialist; Tim Shaver, Nutrient Management Specialist; Robert Tigner; UNL Extension Educator, and Brian Strauch, UNL Extension Educator.

Field Day Location

The field day site is on the northeast side of the intersection of Road 736 and Avenue 334. From Imperial drive 1 mile east of the intersection of Nebraska Hwy 61 and U.S. Hwy 6., and then turn south onto Avenue 334. The plot is 3/8 of a mile south on the east side.
