Corn Stocks Down 16%, Soybean Stocks up 8% from 2010 - UNL CropWatch, June 30, 2011

Nebraska corn stocks in all positions on June 1, 2011 totaled 435 million bushels, down 16 percent from 2010, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office. Of the total, 190 million bushels are stored on farms, down 25 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 245 million bushels, are down 8 percent from last year.

Soybeans stored in all positions on June 1, 2011 totaled 44.8 million bushels, up 8 percent from last year. On-farm stocks of 11 million bushels are down 12 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 33.8 million bushels, are up 16 percent from 2010.

Wheat stored in all positions on June 1, 2011 totaled 35.2 million bushels, down 4 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks of 650 thousand bushels are down 77 percent from 2010. Off-farm stocks of 34.6 million bushels are up 2 percent from last year.

Sorghum stored in all positions on June 1, 2011 totaled 4.6 million bushels, down 7 percent from 2010 and the lowest since 1957. On-farm stocks are 400 thousand bushels, down 67 percent from a year ago and the lowest on record. Off-farm holdings, at 4.2 million bushels, are 12 percent above last year.
