Gary Zoubek in V8 corn

Gary Zoubek, extension educator in York County, is reading a watermark sensor in the field (see white sensors in the lower right).

In the past week, ET gages at York and Mead indicated that crop water use had decreased with the increased humidity and more seasonal temperatures. A check of field monitors indicates that soil moisture is at field capacity down to three feet.

Listen to this week’s irrigation management podcast with Gary Zoubek, extension educator in York County, as he shares information on crop evapotranspiration (ET), soil water status, and other irrigation management tips for corn and soybean fields in eastern Nebraska. It includes data from ETgages installed in the York area and at the UNL’s Agricultural Research and Development Center near Mead.
