Drought monitor 5/3/2011

May 6, 2011

A large area of central and southeast Nebraska is now categorized as abnormally dry, with none currently shown in some degree of drought.  This May 3 Drought Monitor is provided by the National Drought Mitigation Center, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. On this week's Market Journal, Extension State Climatologist Al Dutcher notes that many areas still have moisture deficits and some areas could shift into drought status without more precipitation soon.

Visit the CropWatch Weather Precipitation page to see daily updates of precipitation levels.  GDD and Et information will be added soon.
