UNL Extension will host two meetings in March to explore various aspects of growing and marketing sunflowers.  Topics will include:

  • Why grow sunflowers?
  • What to expect in the future for sunflower production
  • How much risk is involved in growing sunflowers?
  • Why oilseeds?

Larry Kleingartner, director of the  National Sunflower Association will speak on “Status of sunflower markets — What can producers expect and where are the markets headed?”

The meetings, sponsored by UNL Extension in Box Butte and Cheyenne counties, are scheduled for:

March 21, 10 a.m. - noon
South Platte Natural Resources District Office, 551 Parkland Dr., Sidney

March 22, 10 a.m. - noon
UNL Extension Office, 415 Black Hills Avd., Alliance
