The first 100 Nebraskans to register early for the No-till on the Plains Winter Conference will receive a $100 discount through a no-till educational grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund. Their fee, if they register by Jan. 12, will be just $50.  

The No-till on the Plains Winter Conference will be Jan. 25-26 at the Bicentennial Center in Salina, Kan.

The theme of this year's conference is "Make the Connection."  In addition to being able to hear presentations, visit with and ask questions of speakers, and talk with other producers, participants will get to connect with dealers at commercial displays and demonstrations,  Producers -- each in a different stage of using continuous no-till (CNT) with a variety of conditions -- will make presentations during different conference sessions.. In addition, several national and international no-till scientists will present information and research results. Program topics will include producer experiences, fertility and soil health, cover crops and alternative crops, grazing systems and livestock, weed/crop interaction, water management and utilizing no-till under irrigation, new technologies, economics, rainfall simulator and soil demonstrations, and residue management.

No-till on the Plains promotes continuous no-till production that includes the use of diverse rotations and cover crops, where soil disturbance is kept to a minimum.

In addition to the many no-till experts, this year's conference will feature two additional opportunities for informal learning and time with other no-tillers. The Industry Morning Marketplace will be 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, and include presentations and mini classes on what's new in the industry. Tuesday evening participants can attend an evening performance by comedian Etta May at the Stiefel Theatre in downtown Salina.

Post-conference Symposium

Following the conference, No-till on the Plains is once again offering the Agriculture’s Innovation Minds (AIM) Symposium on Thursday, Jan. 27 at the Bicentennial Center. The topic of this year’s meeting will be “Whole Farm and Ranch Management.” Featured will be Holistic Management Certified Educator Josh Dukart and integrated crop and livestock producer Gabe Brown of Bismarck, North Dakota.
